A Century of Joy and Traditions. 100 Years of Magic in Perugia

Perugia’s Luna Park, affectionately known as ‘i Baracconi’ to the people of Perugia, celebrates an extraordinary milestone this year: its 100th anniversary. Located in Pian di Massiano, this iconic amusement park has always been a point of reference for joy, socialising and solidarity in the Perugia community and beyond. For this special edition, the Luna Park has prepared a series of novelties and engaging initiatives, confirming its positive impact on the city and the region

Sparkling Opening and Participation of Authorities

The 100th edition of the Baracconi in Perugia opened with a spectacular fireworks display on 14 October at 3pm. The doors of the park officially opened welcoming visitors with a parade of majorettes and popular bands, in the presence of city and regional authorities. The day culminated in a breathtaking fireworks display at 11.30 p.m., an exciting tribute to the arrival of the park, which will remain open until 12 November.

The presentation of this centenary edition was attended by the city councillors Clara Pastorelli (commerce), Gianluca Tuteri (youth policies) and Luca Merli (security), together with Paola Fioroni, vice-president of the Umbria Region’s legislative assembly, and the members of the Luna Park’s organisational commission, Vincenzo La Scala and Ugo Livero.

Photographic Exhibition of Memories and Involvement of Schools

One of the main novelties of this edition is the photo exhibition that will be held thanks to the contribution of citizens. Pictures submitted by 8 October will be displayed in a 10 by 5 metre gazebo, allowing everyone to relive the history of this popular tradition and share precious memories.

In conjunction with the exhibition, a competition has been launched for primary and secondary schools. Schools are invited to submit drawings and themes by 31 October, with a chance to win prizes worth €2,000 for the two winning schools. The drawings will be displayed in the exhibition, offering an opportunity for the city’s young talents to share and be creative.

Special Events for All

On 31 October, there will be a Halloween evening, with masked entertainers and discounts for masked participants. An opportunity to experience Luna Park in a spooky and fun atmosphere.

On 8, 9 and 10 November, the Children’s Festival will be held, during which it will be possible to enjoy the rides for only 50 cents thanks to the distribution of 27,000 folders in kindergartens and primary schools. This initiative aims to offer an affordable fun experience for all children in the city.

Finally, also this year there will be two free days dedicated to people with disabilities, reflecting Luna Park’s commitment to being an inclusive place of solidarity.

The Ancient and Unbreakable Link with the City

Councillors Pastorelli, Merli and Tuteri emphasised the importance of the Baracconi as a place of identity and socialisation, offering moments of joy for all. This year, thanks to the cooperation with the carnies and contributions from citizens, the link between the park and the city is further strengthened.

Paola Fioroni, vice-president of the regional legislative assembly, explained the sponsorship of the event as a tribute to the 100-year anniversary of Luna Park and the importance of the park’s operators for the region.

A City Ready to Celebrate

Vincenzo La Scala, a member of the Organising Committee, thanked the municipality and the region for their support of the event. He emphasised the economic importance of Luna Park, involving over a hundred families and contributing to the life of the city for over 50 days every year.

Perugia’s Luna Park continues to be a symbol of joy, sharing and tradition, channelling its positive energy for the good of the community. This special edition promises to be unforgettable and testifies to the strength of a bond between the park and the city that stands the test of time. All that remains is to participate and enjoy the festive and carefree moments that Luna Park offers to all.
